The Governor’s Blue Ribbon Meat Products Auction had another banner year–Thank You!

The Governor’s Blue Ribbon Meat Products Auction at the Wisconsin State Fair celebrated its 26th year. In total, this year’s auction raised more than $150,000, with proceeds benefitting Wisconsin 4-H Youth through the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. Governor Walker hosted the Auction, and Bob Meyer of Citizens State Bank of Loyal emceed. Our engaging auctioneers were Bob Johnson, Gary Finley and David Allen. Invaluable ringmen and assistants were:  Ben Brancel, Scott Gunderson, Heidi Miller, Tim Miller, Rodney Freymiller, Scott Werlein, Wayne Yoder, Tim Slack and Dave Koning.

Dignitaries attending the auction were:  Kathleen O’Leary, CEO of Wisconsin State Fair Park; Ray Cross, President of the UW System; Cathy Sandeen, Chancellor of UW-Extension, and other very important supporters of 4-H.

The 2017 Best of Show Award went to meat processor Wyttenbach Meats of Prairie du Sac, earning the honor for its Ultimate Bacon. It sold to Pagel’s Ponderosa, Ron’s Wisconsin Cheese and John T. Pagel for $16,000. It was generously donated back and resold to Wisconsin Souvenir Milkcaps for $6,000.

State Fair 4-H Foundation Affinity Partner Program

Vendors & Retailers have the opportunity to help support 4-H Youth by joining our 4-H Foundation Affinity Partner Program.  Retailers & Wisconsin State Fair Vendors donate a portion of their sales on the Tuesday of the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Meat Products Auction event or choose to donate a specific dollar amount.   A 4-H Foundation Affinity Partner point of purchase display sign is located at each participating vendor’s locations.  This awareness encourages consumers & fair-goers to patronize our Affinity Partners.  Please contact us for more details on this special vendor and retail outlet program.
